Doo-wop屬於R&B音樂的一環，在1950年代流行於美國的音樂表演模式，該表演以一人獨唱主旋律而其他三或四人從旁合聲，《Only You》是非常經典的Doo-wop歌曲，而且是美國The Platters樂團1955年7月出道的成名作品，《Only You》通常有副標題(And You Alone) 。
The Platters樂團是四男一女所組成的藍調搖滾合唱團體，主唱為Tony Williams（1928 – 1992），而其他四位合聲團員為David Lynch、Paul Robi、Herb Reed及Zola Taylor（女）。該團體首支冠軍曲《The Great Pretender》出現在1955年11月，The Platters在隔年1956年參加音樂劇電影《Rock Around the Clock》客串演出，並在劇中演唱《Only You》與《The Great Pretender》。

The Platters於1958年推出《Twilight Time》與《Smoke Gets In Your Eyes》達到事業高峰，1960年Tony Williams單飛離開The Platters，使得該團體事業走下坡。The Platters之後陸續更換團員，並巡迴演唱舊作，而Tony Williams 單飛後亦無出色作品，所以Tony Williams也是靠表演舊作，雙方發生新舊Platters打對台。唯獨Herb Reed（1928 – 2012）自始至終沒有離開過Platters，他也是最常講「我們Platters」之人，而他在2012年6月已經過世。
我第一次聽到《Only You》是在小時候的電視廣告配樂，其實這些年還是有好幾個廣告使用《Only You》當配樂，像是浪＊仙。不過在1990年代有兩部電影惡搞過《Only You》，一部電影是1991年查理辛（Charlie Sheen）主演的《Hot Shots》，由查理辛主唱。
另一部電影則是1995年周星馳主演的《西遊記大結局之仙履奇緣》（A Chinese Odyssey Part Two: Cinderella、大話西遊、月光寶盒Part II），由羅家英主唱，南無阿彌陀佛。
