《Angel》是加拿大籍創作女歌手莎拉•克勞克蘭（Sarah McLachlan）於1997年發表的抒情歌曲，出自於其個人專輯《Surfacing》，這張專輯出現諸多名曲《Building the Mystery》 （榮獲第40屆葛萊美最佳流行音樂女歌手獎）、《Adia》 （第41屆葛萊美獎提名）及《Last Dance》 （榮獲第40屆葛萊美最佳樂器演奏獎）。
《Surfacing》專輯主要銷售市場是美國與加拿大，該專輯在歐陸地區反應平平，而《Angel》也非專輯主打歌曲，在告示牌排行榜只拿個第4名，《Angel》在其他國家排行榜成績更是差強人意，但這首歌卻成為莎拉•克勞克蘭的代表作品。
首先，談一下莎拉•克勞克蘭的出道作品《Gloomy Sunday》，《憂鬱的星期天》想當然就是一首又憂鬱又另類歌曲，本曲改編自匈牙利作曲家萊索•塞萊什（Rezső Seress，1899－1968年）譜寫於1933年的一支歌曲。據說，《憂鬱的星期天》是萊索•塞萊什和他的女友分手後在極度悲慟的心情下創作出來，由於歌曲中流露出懾人心魄的絕望神緒，導致了數以百計的人在聽了它後結束了自己的生命。本人曾閱讀過相關網路謠言，類似七夜怪談的神秘網路轉載，如此恐怖的歌曲是不會紅的。
莎拉•克勞克蘭在1995年唱了一首喜劇電影歌曲《I Will Remember You》， 結果仍然沒有紅，但是2000年莎拉•克勞克蘭又重唱此曲，所謂彼一時，此一時，而《I Will Remember You》讓她獲得第三座葛萊美獎，第二次拿下葛萊美最佳流行音樂女歌手獎。
其實真正讓莎拉•克勞克蘭走紅的歌曲卻是《Angel》，這首歌為當年尼可拉斯凱吉與梅格萊恩合演的愛情催淚巨作《City of Angels》的電影插曲，《City of Angels》有多種翻譯，像是天使之城、慾望之翼，不過最神奇是台灣的勁爆翻譯：《X情人》，明明就是借用X檔案魚目混珠。
莎拉•克勞克蘭在1996年創作《Angel》之初衷，原本是寫歌紀念一位嗑藥出意外的男鍵盤手Jonathan Melvoin，後來卻被電影公司選去當作電影插曲，反正《X情人》最後結局是以車禍悲劇收場，也符合莎拉•克勞克蘭當初寫歌的心情。《X情人》電影原聲帶最紅的歌曲是《Iris》，而第二紅的歌曲就是《Angel》。

《Angel》這首歌名翻譯很簡單就是天使，不過因為翻譯過於簡單，況且音樂市場以天使命名的歌曲有很多首，所以網民開始用《In the Arms of the Angel》或《Arms of the Angel》稱呼這首歌，久而久之，積非成是，這首歌後來就稱作《Arms of the Angel》，所謂網路力量大，莫過如此。
